Johannesburg: Tax Administrator (5-month maternity cover)

About the Role

Our client, a well-established organisation operating within the SME funding and broader financial services sector, is seeking a detail-driven Tax Administrator to support the finance team on a 5-month maternity cover contract.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all tax returns are completed accurately and submitted within statutory deadlines
  • Prepare and review tax reconciliations and process tax payments
  • Maintain and archive tax records in line with governance and statutory requirements
  • Liaise with external tax advisors, auditors, compliance teams, and relevant tax authorities
  • Support monthly and annual tax close processes, including reporting and status updates
  • Respond to information requests from regulatory authorities
  • Assist with resolving historical tax matters and follow up on outstanding queries
  • Attend to ad-hoc tax-related tasks as required

Requirements

  • BCom degree, Higher Diploma in Tax, or equivalent qualification
  • 23 years experience in corporate tax administration
  • Solid understanding of IFRS
  • Experience working with trial balances and financial statements for tax calculation purposes
  • Exposure to tax legislation (African jurisdictions outside South Africa advantageous)
  • Financial Services industry experience advantageous
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • SAP experience advantageous
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong planning and organizing ability
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to follow procedures and meet strict deadlines
