About the Role

Our client in the Financial Services Industry is seeking an Underwriting Executive to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing complex risk placement, liaising with internal and external stakeholders as required, and providing strategic guidance to the team in line with corporate vision and organisational goals.

Key Responsibilities

High-Level Operational Oversight and Complex Risk Management.
Provide strategic guidance to the team in line with corporate vision and organisational goals, effectively communicating their implications.
Focus primarily on managing complex risk placement, liaising with internal and external stakeholders as required.
Evaluate and report on the unit’s performance to the COO, setting realistic goals and managing capacity.
Oversee adherence to compliance standards and work towards optimising processes to ensure the quality of service.
Engage in strategic projects and operational improvements to enhance underwriting practices.
Uphold and maintain quality standards that promote client satisfaction and cost efficiency.

Requirements

A minimum of five (5) years’ working experience within the Insurance industry.
A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in an underwriting management position.
Proven experience in people management.
Prior experience in managing underwriter performance, growth, and sustainability.
Experience operating at a managerial level in the short-term insurance industry is a must.
Proven track record of conducting high-level negotiations.

Qualifications

Completion of the NQF Level 5 qualification.
Successful completion of the RE 5 Examination Level 1.
