About the Role
Our client in the Financial Services Industry is seeking an Underwriting Executive to join their team. This role will require a highly skilled professional with extensive experience in underwriting management, people management, and risk management.
Key Responsibilities
- High-Level Operational Oversight and Complex Risk Management
- Provide strategic guidance to the team in line with corporate vision and organisational goals, effectively communicating their implications.
- Focus primarily on managing complex risk placement, liaising with internal and external stakeholders as required.
- Evaluate and report on the unit’s performance to the COO, setting realistic goals and managing capacity.
- Oversee adherence to compliance standards and work towards optimising processes to ensure the quality of service.
- Engage in strategic projects and operational improvements to enhance underwriting practices.
- Uphold and maintain quality standards that promote client satisfaction and cost efficiency.
Requirements
- Completion of the NQF Level 5 qualification.
- Successful completion of the RE 5 Examination Level 1.
- A minimum of five (5) years’ working experience within the Insurance industry.
- A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in an underwriting management position.
- Proven experience in people management.
- Prior experience in managing underwriter performance, growth, and sustainability.
- Experience operating at a managerial level in the short-term insurance industry is a must.
- Proven track record of conducting high-level negotiations.
