A leading South African refinery, focused on adding value to locally sourced precious metals, is looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Trading Accountant. This role is central to the financial operations of the trading desk and involves managing daily and monthly cashflow, coordinating with production on metal distribution and exports, and ensuring accurate and timeous payment loading on banking platforms. Key responsibilities include daily metal balancing for local and export sales, maintaining supplier trade records, processing and reconciling trades, managing foreign currency accounts, and ensuring alignment between metal movements, trade documentation, and system records. The Trading Accountant will also be responsible for monthly reconciliations, regulatory reporting, VAT-related export documentation, and metal warehouse audits. A relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting or Finance is essential, along with 35 years experience in accounting or trade booking in a back-office environment. Proficiency in Sage Pastel Evolution and MS Excel (intermediate level), strong analytical skills, and fluency in both English and Afrikaans are required.

Requirements:

• Bachelors Degree: Accounting, Financial Management, Cost and Management Accounting Commerce (with accounting/finance major)
• CIMA (advantage)
• Short courses or certifications in: Forex or commodities trading & VAT and customs/export compliance (advantage)
• 3 to 5 years relevant experience of Accounting and/or booking trades, working back office

Duties:

• Cashflow
• Daily and monthly Cashflow maintenance.
• Daily meeting with Production for planning of metal deliveries / metal distribution internally and exports.
• To aid in the Cashflow allocations to Suppliers and General commitments.
• Monitoring and possible updates on the Cashflow alongside the production plan.
• Loading of Payment on the Bank platform and ensuring timeous authorization by the Finance department.
• Gold Balancing.
• Daily maintenance/balancing of Metal for Exports and Local sales.
• Deliveries for External and local sales.
• Balancing all Metal statements to trades/metal deliveries.
• Balancing of USD accounts.
• Supplier Sheets.
• Trade and Delivery capturing for GRV.
• Capture of any payment made to Supplier.
• Monitoring company Allocation for VAT purposes.
• Trade operation admin and accounting.
• To file signed pack on SharePoint and Teams for management purpose.
• Regulator report based on all Exported sales for compliance purposes and use.
• Brinks Export Packs for Tax submission and Queries relations to ensure that our claimed export VAT is correct.
