Job Description

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:Gr. 12 (with Mathematics) preferredTrade Certificate as a Pattern MakerMINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:Minimum of 2 years working as an Artisan in the industry after achieving a Trade Certificate preferred or alternatively a Trade Certificate which includes a minimum of 4 years in service training in a Pattern Shop environment, as part of an ARPL programme for Pattern Making. SPECIFIC SKILLSVerbal and written Communication skills in English as a minimum. Afrikaans an advantage Able to interpret Engineering drawingsKnowledge of wood cutting machines and equipmentKnowledge of Foundry productionAbility to work under pressure and meet deadlinesExcellent Attention to DetailStrong numeracy skillsUse of measuring equipment related to Pattern Making Ability to work independently with a minimum amount of supervisionWork shifts and overtime when requiredSUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:Safety & operational inspection of equipment prior to useUse of general hand tools & checking for damageUse conventional wood cutting machinesInterpretation of engineering drawingsGeneral pattern maintenanceCheck incoming pattern equipment/patterns/castings to drawingsFitting & maintenance of pattern identificationRepair & modify old patterns & produce new patterns as deemed necessaryPattern assembly & finishingFitting of running & feeding systemsAssist in the fitting of cores & closing in the FoundryOversee trials & supervise closing of moulds in FoundryEnsure identification, running systems & feeding aides are correct before clearing patterns for productionWork to production plan & achieve planned targetsWork in accordance with HR, Quality & SHE PoliciesCarry out any other work, within reason, as per Supervisors instructionsFemale Applicants encouraged to apply.
