About the Role
A global logistics leader is seeking an experienced IT & Customs Systems Manager to oversee the development, enhancement, and management of critical customs applications used across Southern Africa. This role offers the opportunity to combine technical expertise, project leadership, and innovation in a fast-paced, international environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the development, maintenance, and optimisation of the organisation’s customs application.
- Partner with the IT development team to ensure functionality aligns with customs and clearing requirements.
- Manage end-to-end system performance, capacity, security, and compliance for operations across Southern Africa.
- Drive digital transformation projects that enable efficiency, cost optimisation, and innovation.
- Lead and develop a high-performing, motivated team fostering collaboration and accountability.
- Ensure service levels (SLAs and OLAs) are met or exceeded.
- Serve as the technical and operational point of escalation for system-related issues.
- Support business continuity and disaster recovery planning.
- Manage vendor relationships and collaborate on regional or global initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or National Diploma in IT, Computer Science.
- 4+ years project management experience within an IT or logistics environment.
- 4+ years experience with database management (SQL).
- Strong knowledge of customs and clearing systems ability to guide IT teams on business logic.
- Solid technical background with exposure to C#, SQL, HTML, and Python.
- Proven experience leading diverse teams in a non-micromanagement, collaborative style.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
