Job Description
Seeking a young, motivated, energetic, and driven SHEQ Officer to support and strengthen our SHEQ systems and site operations. The successful candidate will be based in Midrand and will provide SHEQ support across various projects and operational sites as required.
This role is suited to a hands-on SHEQ professional who is confident on site, strong on compliance, and able to engage operational teams while consistently enforcing SHEQ standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement, monitor, and enforce SHEQ systems, procedures, and legal compliance
- Conduct site inspections, audits, risk assessments, and HIRA processes
- Compile, review, and manage safety files in accordance with legal and client-specific requirements
- Conduct incident investigations, reporting, and implementation of corrective and preventative actions
- Ensure compliance with the OHS Act, Construction Regulations, and applicable standards
- Deliver toolbox talks, inductions, and SHEQ awareness training
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and internal management on SHEQ-related matters
- Maintain accurate SHEQ records, statistics, and reports
Minimum Requirements
- MUST HAVE – SACPCMP registration as a Safety Officer (mandatory)
- Incident Investigation Level 3
- HIRA certification
- Minimum of 5 years proven SHEQ experience, preferably in industrial, construction, or other high-risk environments
- Strong working knowledge of South African SHEQ legislation
- Experience with client-specific SHEQ requirements and audits
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple sites and projects
- Strong communication, reporting, and organizational skills
- Valid drivers license
- Valid police clearance
- National Senior Certificate
- Strong computer literacy with proven proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and general office software
- Ability to compile, manage, and analyze SHEQ documentation, reports, registers, statistics, and safety files electronically
- Comfortable working with digital systems, document control platforms, and client-specific online portals

Additional Requirements
This role requires extensive travel, standby duties, and frequent sleep-outs. Candidates must be flexible and available to meet these operational demands.
