About the Role

The Site Foreman will be responsible for the general supervision of all sites of operations, ensuring that duties are performed safely, effectively and efficiently. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager and working closely with the operations team, this role requires a strong supervisory skillset and experience in machine operations, warehousing and/or logistics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervising site operations: Attend daily coordination meetings; General supervision of the four production areas (Bagging, train offloading, weighbridge control and Product drying); Coordinate resource allocation and approval of leave; Report safety related incidents to Operations manager and SHEQ Officer; Conduct On-the-job training and development of teams; Assist the operations manager in the execution of daily duties; Ensure resources are properly allocated for general housekeeping; Coordinate activities to ensure minimal interruptions of the milling plant; Monitor the completion of the maintenance check list for operating vehicles and machinery; Arrange for repairs on reported faults on machinery and operating vehicles; Ensure that toolbox talks meetings are conducted; Assist with the collection of office supplies and spares; Check diesel level daily and report level to Operations Manager; Take responsibility for receiving and filling diesel; Ensure that pool vehicle is kept clean; Carry out Adhoc requests by management; Carry out standby duties as and when required; Ensure that PTO (Planed Task Observations) are conducted by the Shift Supervisors;
  • Purchasing of goods and services: Raise purchase documents for goods and services; Take responsibility for receiving and issuing of diesel; Take responsibility for collecting groceries and other office items from town;
  • Monthly wages: Take responsibility for compiling and submitting monthly wages; Review wages payslips and resolve any errors with HR department;
  • Operational daily reports Compile daily operational reports and distribute to relevant people; These include weighbridge reports, bagging reports, drying reports, camera reports, train offloading reports etc;
  • Housekeeping: Monitor the cleaning of mobile machinery (yellow machines) and plant; Coordinate cleaning activities across all operations especially the weighbridge;

Requirements

  • Educational Requirements / Related Experience: Grade 12 – 2 years supervisory experience in a machine operating / warehousing / logistics environment. – Prior experience at operational level (approximately 5 years) in machine operations, warehousing and/or logistics;
  • Skills Requirements: Drivers License is a must; Computer Literacy
