North Johannesburg: Litigation Attorney – (Newly Established Division)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Litigation Attorney to join our newly established division in North Johannesburg, where you will be responsible for managing civil litigation and debt recovery matters from inception to finalisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Drafting, settling, and arguing key pleadings and affidavits
• Managing civil litigation and debt recovery matters from inception to finalisation
• Negotiating favourable settlements and repayment plans where commercially viable
• Providing strategic legal advice to clients
• Liaising with sheriffs, tracing agents, and external counsel where necessary
• Maintaining meticulous physical file management
• Accurate note-taking and recording of billable hours
• Handling client and debtor interactions professionally and effectively

Requirements

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa
• 3 – 4 years post-admission experience in civil litigation and debt collection
• Strong court litigation experience (Magistrates Court and High Court)
• Experience with divorce proceedings
• Sound knowledge of jurisdiction of courts and sheriffs
• Proficient in Court Online
