About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Lead Electrical Engineer to join our team in the Western Cape region. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for leading and developing a cohesive electrical design team, providing technical leadership on electrical design, wiring systems, and controller integration, and ensuring that designs meet required specifications, standards, and quality expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a cohesive electrical design team to drive performance and collaboration
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance on electrical design, wiring systems, and controller integration
  • Engage with customers to understand requirements and align engineering deliverables accordingly
  • Plan, allocate, and optimise design resources based on project priorities
  • Manage project timelines, ensuring key milestones are achieved and deviations are addressed
  • Lead internal and external design reviews to ensure technical accuracy and compliance
  • Execute and oversee CAD design activities, including 3D modelling and 2D drawings
  • Maintain accurate and structured engineering data within PDM systems
  • Support custom engineering requests and prioritise project deliverables effectively
  • Drive continuous improvement in design processes, governance, and efficiency
  • Manage administrative responsibilities including reporting, performance reviews, and team development

Requirements

  • 15+ years’ experience in electrical design
  • Strong leadership experience in engineering/design teams
  • Proven project management and planning capability
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage shifting priorities
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Strong attention to detail and task management ability
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with CAD and PDM systems
  • Exposure to AI/digital engineering tools advantageous

Qualifications

  • Minimum BEng / BSc / in Electrical Engineering
