Job Description
Main purpose of the job:
- To provide clinical research assistance to the clinical trials team through patient enrolment, consent, data management/ CRF file completion and basic nursing care
Location:
- Johannesburg, Parktown
Key performance areas:
- Receive patients referred by clinicians or clinical trial centre for screening
- Check patient files and details and confirm next appointment dates / follow up dates
- Assist with referring patients to designated doctors as and when needed if relevant to study
- Ensure that relevant documentation have been completed i.e. CRFs, Enrollment Logs, Consent forms, Stock forms, delegation logs etc.
- Liaise with Clinical Trial Site and Data Capturer to capture completed CRFs timeously
- Able to respond and correct data queries raised by the global and local data management teams
- Liaising with Clinical staff to ensure trial documents are completed accurately and entirely by following the patient through their clinical course during the trial period
- Assist with consent and enrollment of eligible patients into the study at each site
- Adequately maintain stock take and flow of stock from stores to trial sites ensuring correct use of interventional product in the studies
- Provide office support by assisting with protocol and or ethics submission document preparations
- Be comfortable presenting site initiation presentations for Principle Investigators and their Clinical Teams
- Perform general administration duties such as scanning, photocopying and filing
- Assist the team with ad hoc assignments and duties
Required minimum education and training:
- Diploma in General Nursing (3-years)
Professional Body Registration:
- South African Nursing Council (SANC)
Required minimum work experience:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience with Clinical Trial exposure
Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities:
- Manage time effectively to meet high paced work environment needs
- Manage multiple sites at various stages of a trial simultaneously
- Take ownership and accountability for tasks & activities and demonstrate effective self-management
- Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of own work are consistently and accurately maintained
- Take ownership for own career development
- Manage colleagues and client’s expectation and communicate appropriately
- Willing to help others and go the extra mile to meet team targets and objectives
- Manage own disruptive emotions (handle stress in ways that do not negatively impact on the team)
