About the Role

Our client, a well-established family-owned business operating across South Africa and Zambia with approximately 130 employees, is seeking an experienced HR Specialist/HR Manager. This role is ideal for a seasoned HR generalist (10 years’ experience) comfortable managing the full HR function across multiple sites.

Key Responsibilities

Manage full employee lifecycle: onboarding, probation, movements, and exits
Maintain accurate HR records and ensure compliance with South African labour legislation and relevant cross-border requirements
Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies and procedures
End-to-end recruitment across all branches; support succession planning and talent retention
Take ownership of payroll: manage statutory submissions, payroll queries, and compensation records
Manage petty cash, forex payments, and assist with month-end creditor payments
Build and maintain positive employee relations; handle disciplinary processes, grievances, and performance issues
Identify training and development needs and coordinate initiatives
Compile HR reports for management and use HR data to support decision-making

Requirements

10 years of HR generalist experience, including payroll management
Sound knowledge of South African labour legislation
Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities across sites
Proficiency in HR systems and MS Office
Relevant HR qualification (BCom HR, BA HR, or similar)

Qualifications

Completed BCom HR degree
