About the Role
The Executive Dean position at the Faculty of Health Sciences is a critical leadership role that requires strategic vision, academic expertise, and exceptional management skills. We are seeking an experienced and accomplished leader to drive transformative change and growth within our faculty.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategically lead and manage the Faculty of Health Sciences through transformative and transformational academic leadership.
- Coordinate the development of the faculty’s strategic plan.
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance student access and success.
- Adopt a human-centred approach to learning and teaching, including a focus on technology-enhanced learning, inter-professional health education, and work-integrated learning (WIL) on broad clinical training platforms.
- Foster research and innovation in accordance with the university’s research niche areas and promote disciplinary and trans-disciplinary scholarship.
- Effectively manage Human Resources, financial and physical resources, including mobilising external funding.
- Engage internally and externally locally, provincially, nationally, and internationally.
- Oversee the design, development, and review of programmes, as well as the process of external programme reviews.
- Ensure the marketing and branding of programmes.
Requirements
- Proven executive leadership experience in a higher education setting.
- Strong academic expertise in health sciences or a related field.
- Excellent strategic planning and implementation skills.
- Ability to adopt a human-centred approach to learning and teaching.
- Strong research and innovation skills, with experience in fostering interdisciplinary scholarship.
- Effective management of Human Resources and financial resources.
- Proven ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in a relevant field (e.g., health sciences, education).
- Postdoctoral experience or equivalent.
- Strong track record of academic leadership and achievement.
