About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician: Assembly to join our team in Port Elizabeth. As a key member of our maintenance department, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our electrical equipment and facilities. If you have a strong background in electrical engineering or mechatronics, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for teamwork, we encourage you to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting and handling of all electrical equipment in the workshop to reduce downtime and ensure normal operation of electrical equipment
  • Complete all TPM-related activities as assigned by the maintenance supervisor in due time
  • Attend to responsible breakdowns and repair equipment in due time
  • Ensure that the facility’s electrical installations comply with the required regulations
  • Support the installation and assembly of new equipment
  • Ensure equipment is in an adequate state of repair to ensure continuous repetitive quality products at the required cycle time
  • Adhere to the lockout procedure before any work on machines or equipment
  • Perform daily management tasks such as work logs, fault logs, equipment history records, maintenance records, etc.
  • Support with improvement activities when required
  • Backup and manage important data, procedures, and parameters of equipment (PC, drives, robotics, inverters, PLC, etc.)
  • Perform any duties as requested and assigned by the maintenance supervisor
  • Be flexible to work additional hours at short notice due to operational requirements
  • Undertake continuous improvement activities
  • Continually promote company philosophies, policies, and values
  • Take an active part in identifying and maintaining plant Health and Safety
  • Lead hourly workers and act as a multi-skilled worker (who understands both electrical systems and programming, as well as mechanical systems)
  • Maintain and solve breakdowns on wheel alignment and related equipment
  • Maintain and solve breakdowns on filling equipment
  • Ensure that AGVs and EMS hangers are production-ready to eliminate downtime

Requirements

  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics qualification
  • Trade-tested Electrician (advantageous)
  • Minimum of 5 years of working experience in the automotive industry (preferred)
