About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Quality Engineer to join our team in Port Elizabeth, focusing on purchased motor vehicle components. As a key member of our Quality Assurance team, you will play a critical role in ensuring that these components consistently perform to specification throughout their full lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Initiating and managing qualification programmes for new part introductions
- Driving continuous improvement by identifying root causes of part deviations and implementing corrective actions across all lifecycle phases
- Testing and evaluating parts against defined specifications
- Providing technical expertise on complete parts with regard to material and functional performance
- Initiating design improvements to resolve complex component-related issues
- Managing and initiating local and CKD supplier claims
- Supporting quality assurance activities related to purchased parts
Requirements
- National Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience within a manufacturing environment
- In-depth knowledge of motor vehicle components, their functions, specifications, manufacturing processes, and testing methods
- Strong technical understanding of motor vehicle systems and components
- Proven experience with quality tools such as DOE, SPC, FMEA, and 8D methodologies
Qualifications
- National Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering (relevant)
