About the Role

The Injection Moulding Machine Setter plays a key operational leadership role in driving process efficiency and ensuring production targets, quality standards, and delivery timelines are consistently achieved in a high-pressure production environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set and optimise all injection moulding machines and ancillary equipment.
  • Maximise machine utilisation and labour efficiency to meet production objectives.
  • Ensure production output meets customer quality and delivery requirements.
  • Monitor and control scrap rates, cycle times, and other key production KPIs.
  • Ensure compliance with Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • Ensure adherence to Environmental Management Systems (EMS).
  • Enforce Health & Safety standards within the production department.
  • Coordinate and manage production staff per shift requirements.
  • Ensure work instructions (Setting Sheets, Inspection Instructions, Packaging & Transport specifications) are accurate and adhered to.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards in the production area.
  • Review non-conforming products with Quality and implement corrective actions.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within processes and product quality.
  • Assist with staff training on problem-solving techniques and quality methods.
  • Stand in for other setters in cases of absenteeism.
  • Assist the Stores Controller when required.
  • Ensure departmental KPIs are achieved for self and team.

Requirements

Minimum Grade 12 / Matric (NQF Level 4) qualification. Minimum 3 years experience in Injection Moulding Machine (IMM) setting and process optimisation. Previous experience in a plastics manufacturing environment is required. Proven shift supervisory experience is essential.

Qualifications

Level 4 Plastic Federation Injection Moulding Machine Setting Certificate (NQF 6).
