Job Description

Position Responsibilities: The Facilities Assistant will be responsible for the following functions: Collaborate closely with the RDGS Facility Manager to ensure that all building facilities, technical equipment, grounds, and estates are maintained to world-class standards, while optimizing costs for the Bank. Supervising contractors and service providers working within the RDGS premises and ensuring that they are given the necessary support and access into the Bank premises to carry out their work. The incumbent will be expected to assist & work with the Facilities Manager to coordinate on-site and ad hoc contractors to attend to job cards for repairs and maintenance works. Attending to emergencies and breakdowns related to the building facility and ensuring rapid response and resolution of all such issues. The Facility Assistant will be expected to serve as the first responder for emergencies, including supporting the completion of appropriate documentation and reports Providing technical input in the procurement of service providers for the maintenance of RDGS building facilities including technical equipment maintenance, office cleaning, building maintenance and the maintenance of roads and grounds. Ensuring that all new installations as well as technical projects within the RDGS facility are implemented in full compliance with best practice and applicable local government regulations Monitoring, measuring and control of utilities such as electricity, water, diesel and waste. The Facilities Assistant will be expected to provide a monthly report summarizing the status of the above utilities and showing the consumption trends and associated costs for management review. Ensuring the safe and healthy operation and maintenance of technical installations so as to comply with local Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations. The incumbent will be required to liaise with the Facility Manager in conducting safety inspections as scheduled. Inspect the Bank premises regularly to proactively identify problems and plan for necessary maintenance. The Facility Assistant will also be expected to conduct follow-ups on all maintenance and repair work and certify that repairs have been done to the required standard. In coordination with the Facility Manager, monitor the use of stock items purchased by the Bank, such as toilet tissues, electricity bulbs, plumbing kits etc. and ensure the records of such stock items is well maintained and always up to date. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Possession of at least a Bachelors degree in Construction, Building Management, Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, with at least five years post qualification experience in a similar role. Possession of a Diploma or Certificate in Facilities Management, obtained from a reputable institution Possession of a Health and Safety (OHS) qualification will be an added advantage. Required competences To operate well in the above position, the incumbent will be required to demonstrate competences in the following areas. Project management Flexibility and willingness to work outside office hours Ability to work under pressure without supervision, even under extreme conditions Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Exceptional planning and organizational skills Proactive, forward thinking and responsive Deadline and results-driven Effective problem-solving skills
