About the Role
Our client located in Pretoria East is seeking a Junior Attorney with practical experience in labour / employment law to join their team. As a Junior-Mid Level Attorney, you will support senior attorneys in labour / employment law matters, providing exposure and growth opportunities in CCMA arbitrations, labour court matters, and industrial relations advisory work.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle labour law cases: CCMA arbitrations, conciliations, applications (rescissions, condonations, etc.), pre-dismissal arbitrations
- Support in Labour Court and Labour Appeal Court matters
- Draft pleadings, affidavits, contracts, collective agreements, charge sheets, disciplinary notices
- Assist in investigations, prepare case files, gather evidence, interview witnesses
- Appear (or assist appearance) in hearings, tribunals, and court settings
- Communicate with clients (employers, employees, unions), advise on labour compliance and strategy
- Liaise with trade unions, bargaining councils, Department of Labour
- Prepare legal opinions and training materials in employment law
- Keep up to date with statutory amendments, case law, and best practice in labour law
Requirements
- Drivers license own vehicle
- LLB or equivalent law degree
- Admitted
- Minimum 3 years practical experience in labour/employment law (CCMA, labour court, dispute resolution)
- Strong knowledge of South African labour law, CCMA procedures, and Labour Court practice
- Experience dealing with clients, including advisory and litigation support
- Excellent drafting, research, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple matters, and meet deadlines
