Job Description
Minimum Required Qualification:
- NQF 7 (Bachelors Degree or Advanced Diploma) in relevant Science or Engineering field.
The Appointee should:
- At least 10 years experience in a related function, of which 5 years should have been at a management level or experience in a functional/specialist area.
- Medically fit to work in the specific business area.
- Clear security screening record.
Advantageous Qualifications:
- NQF 8 (Post graduate Diploma / Honours Degree / Professional Qualification Degree) in relevant Science or Engineering field would be advantageous.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Management:
- Evaluate and develop the strategy for the development of the surface Mineral Resources and Reserves in the SA Region
- Evaluate and develop options and projects that will enhance and support the strategy of the SA Region
- Conduct scenario planning and high-level financial valuation on the Life of Mine for the SA Region, and assist in optimising the mine extraction strategies.
- Provide technical assurance on the surface and project Mineral Resources and Reserves in the SA Region
- Assist in ensuring that the Mineral Rights, Prospecting Rights and Mine Works Programmes are in good standing in the SA Region
- Evaluate the impact of emerging MRM and Mine Planning data and propose alternative business and mining opportunities, strategies, and/or corrective action.
- Assure that short term planning (monthly, quarterly & six-month rolling plans) are aligned to achieve the objectives of the Strategic plans and the safety values and strategy of the company.
- Assure that the Integrated Mining Enterprise initiative is implemented and embedded
- Support initiatives to digitise and automate reporting in the Mine Technical Services disciplines
- Managing, coordinating and influencing diverse resources and stakeholders towards achievement of business plans and mineral resource management objectives.
- Define, manage, coordinate and integrate the contributions of each of the disciplines within MRM and Mine Planning.
- Contribute to the achievement of business objectives by monitoring results and co-ordinating activities of a range of internal and external stakeholders, to ensure that operations adhere to the mine plans and sound Mineral Resource Management principles.
- Manage and audit the suite of Mine Technical Services under the MRM umbrella, contributing to mining operations in the following areas: o Resource Geology o Surface Surveying o Planning including Resource optimisation, risk analysis and leveraging of Resource opportunities o Mining Rights o Ground Stability o Assaying
- Advise Snr Management of eminent risks as soon as they become evident and provide potential risk mitigation optionality.
- Lead the MDR process by providing guidelines, timelines, milestones and quality of expectations.
- Engage with external service providers to ensure system quality and reliability.
- Continuously innovate, seek and explore initiatives to improve the system and department functionality.
- Systems, Legal Adherence & Project Management :
- Ensuring that legal requirements, group standards and policies are adhered to through periodic audits.
- Designing, implementing and managing effective long-term planning strategies and systems.
- Compile meaningful management report to enable effective decision making.
- Participating in projects and managing own projects effectively.
- Developing suitable software systems to support IME.
- Reviewing of LOM plans and projects from concept to feasibility studies to ensure long-term mine stability (more than 5 years).
- Assisting with the formulation of remedial action plans emanating from various audits and tracking thereof.
