About the Role
A software company based in Pretoria East is seeking a skilled PHP Developer to join their team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining complex web applications, mentoring junior developers, and leading code reviews. They will work closely with cross-functional teams throughout the entire product lifecycle, from planning to deployment and maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable web applications using PHP and its frameworks (like Laravel).
- Build and maintain APIs for data exchange between server and client applications.
- Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code, ensuring adherence to best practices and security standards.
- Work with product managers, designers, and other developers to define project requirements and objectives.
- Optimize applications for maximum speed, scalability, and performance.
- Develop and execute unit and integration tests to ensure code quality and reliability.
- Diagnose and resolve application issues and performance bottlenecks.
Requirements
- Grade 12 Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field is often preferred.
- At least 4 years’ experience with PHP development.
- Consuming REST API and JSON Proficiency with one or more PHP frameworks (e.g., Laravel, Symfony).
- Strong understanding of database systems (e.g., MySQL) and SQL.
- Experience with front-end technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools for deployment and infrastructure management.
- Knowledge of version control systems like Git.
- Experience with automated testing and continuous integration (CI/CD).
