About the Role
The Test Bay Foreman is a critical role that requires extensive experience in armature winding, electrical testing, and mechanical/electrical repairs. As a leader in our test bay environment, you will be responsible for overseeing the testing and quality verification of LV AC motors, conducting detailed diagnostics to identify electrical faults, and ensuring all testing complies with regulatory and internal quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Testing & Quality Verification: Perform and oversee electrical tests on LV AC motors (incoming and final testing)
- Conduct detailed diagnostics to identify electrical faults
- Ensure all testing complies with regulatory and internal quality standards
- Supervision & Team Management: Supervise and coordinate Test-Bay technicians, allocate tasks and manage workflow
- Fault Diagnosis: Diagnose electrical problems based on test results, prepare failure reports detailing causes, corrective actions, and test outcomes
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate test records, job cards, and quality-control documentation
- Compliance, Safety & Equipment Management: Enforce electrical safety standards and workplace regulations, ensure proper use, calibration, and maintenance of testing equipment
Requirements
- Grade 12 Red Seal Trade Test Armature Winder SAQA-aligned competency (NQF Level 4 Armature Winder qualification)
- Extensive experience in armature winding, electrical testing, and mechanical/electrical repairs
- Supervisory experience in an armature workshop / Test-Bay environment
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
- Ability to interpret technical drawings
- Knowledge of electrical safety protocols and testing standards
Qualifications
- Formal education/certifications (if applicable)
