A beautiful, Exlcusive-use, 5* Game Lodge located in the Madikwe Game Reserve.

Job Description

Our client is looking for a couple at their beautiful exclusive use Game Lodge located in the Madikwe Game Reserve. The Lodge can accommodate 16 Guests at any time but is booked out exclusively for one family or company at any one time, mostly with international guests from America or the UK.

Because it is an exclusive use property, it is not always fully booked so there are periods in between where the couple would have no guests on site and would need to work on other areas with the lodge, such as Maintenance, housekeeping, admin, etc. We are seeking a Couple who are willing to be in a fairly remote location and not mind being on site when Guests are not in Camp.

The Lodge Management is fairly Flexible in their criteria for the couple that would fit their circumstances in terms of whether the couple is more senior or more junior.

Unfortunately the lodge cannot consider a couple with any young dependents. Ideally they need a couple who are fairly flexible in terms of responsibilities and daily routine – The working cycles are generally 30 days on and 10 days off but the couple would be required to be flexible and work around when there are guests in camp.

One of the Couple needs to be a formally qualified Guide, Lead or back up Trails Guide highly beneficial.

For the guide, we are looking for someone who is an excellent, experienced guide, who is keen, enthusiastic, personable, well spoken, presentable and dedicated to conservation and education, as well as being able to turn their hand to a little basic maintenance, some admin and some hosting duties.

The candidate would ideally need to be fully qualified to take walks as a lead rifle, but a back-up trails guide or working towards the qualification would be considered.

The responsibilities would be typical guiding duties such as game drives, game walks, all game and environmental activities.

Ideally, the candidate would also be able to turn their hand to:

Some general lodge maintenance and veld management.

Basic vehicle maintenance and after hours emergency standby duties.

Assistance with various managerial duties, hosting duties and general liaison with guests.

Knowledge of blogging, Facebook and Twitter would also be advantageous.

Partner : Front-of-House candidate, the position would ideally have the following core responsibilities:

Guest Liaison, Hosting meals and banqueting duties.

Supervision of bar staff, waiters and lodge cleaners, including the set-up of, and service at, all meals including service from the kitchen and bar .

Ensuring that all guest areas in the lodge are constantly presentable and ready for guests.

Supervision of housekeepers and ensuring guest suites, Gym and Health and Beauty treatment room are cleaned and prepared to the highest standards.

Curio Shop sales, Curio stock orders and maintaining Curio Shop stock levels.

Bar, Wine Cellar and Curio shop stock control and stock takes.

Assisting with check in and check out of guests and other administration duties.

Essential attributes for this position include an excellent eye for detail, a good knowledge of service skills, a friendly and outgoing personality, a good team player with excellent communication skills and the ability to handle pressure.

This role will report to the more Senior Management Couple and relieve for them when they are on their leave cycle.

Qualifications

FGASA NQF 2 Minimum, FGASA NQF 4 Ideal. Trails Guide Qualification (Ideally lead rifle). Advanced Rifle Handling. Valid PDP.

Skills

4/5 Star Game Lodge Experience. Ability to work independently and keep self busy when lodge does not have guests. One or both of the couple should be qualified and experienced to Guide and do walks in the North West Province. Lead rifle is ideal but if close to this, the reserve is ideal to continue to log hours and further these qualifications.

Salary / Package

R20000-R30000 As a Couple (Commensurate with level of experience)
