Job Description

Job Title: Bar Manager Job Overview The Bar Manager is responsible for leading and managing bar operations to ensure exceptional guest experiences, strong team performance, and efficient stock and financial control. This role requires hands-on leadership, operational excellence, and a solid understanding of beverage service, stock management, and point-of-sale systems. The Bar Manager sets the standard for service, professionalism, and team motivation while ensuring all bar operations run smoothly across functions and events. Key Focus: Leadership & Team Management Lead; supervise, and motivate bar staff to deliver outstanding service Delegate duties effectively to ensure smooth operations Train and develop team members in bar service, POS systems, upselling, and product knowledge Foster a positive, professional, and high-performance team culture Maintain operational excellence at all times Key Responsibilities Stock Control & Inventory Management Conduct stocktakes (opening and closing stock for each function) Manage monthly stocktakes Conduct OE stocktake as required Ensure correct stock rotation using FIFO principles Monitor and control stock levels to minimize wastage and shrinkage POS & Financial Management Manage and oversee POS systems Ensure accurate capturing of sales Handle cash-ups and reconcile daily takings Operate and oversee credit card machines Ensure bar limits are adhered to per function Operational Duties Set up and break down bars according to event requirements Set up coffee stations and welcome drinks where required Ensure bar presentation and cleanliness meet company standards Ensure smooth service flow during functions and peak periods Monitor compliance with liquor regulations and company policies Guest Experience & Service Excellence Maintain professional and effective guest communication Ensure high standards of service delivery Support upselling initiatives to maximize revenue Address guest concerns promptly and professionally Demonstrate strong liquor knowledge and beverage expertise Experience & Skills Required Proven experience in a supervisory role within a bar or hospitality environment Strong POS system experience Experience operating credit card machines and handling cash-ups Barista experience Solid liquor and beverage knowledge Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment Strong organizational and leadership skills Core Competencies Leadership and team motivation Delegation and staff development Attention to detail Operational efficiency Financial accountability Guest-focused mindset
