With a commitment to conservation and luxury, the camp offers guests an intimate Big 5 safari experience, combining world-class game viewing with personalized service in a pristine natural setting. Position Overview My Client is seeking an experienced and dynamic Camp Manager to oversee the daily operations of our luxury tented camp. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with a passion for hospitality, wildlife conservation, and delivering exceptional guest experiences. This role requires a blend of operational management, staff leadership, and guest relations, all while maintaining the camp’s high standards of service and sustainability. Key Responsibilities Operations & Administration Oversee all day-to-day camp operations, ensuring smooth and efficient service delivery. Manage and supervise the following departments: Food & Beverage, Reception, Guiding, Housekeeping, Grounds, and Maintenance. Ensure adherence to camp standards, SOPs, and house rules. Develop and manage staff rosters, contracts, grooming standards, and leave approvals. Oversee weekly purchasing, stock control, deliveries, and monthly inventories. Ensure accurate cash-ups, banking, and financial reporting. Prepare and submit monthly operational and management reports. Monitor cleanliness, hygiene, and safety across the property. Guest Relations & Service Excellence Personally welcome and engage with guests, ensuring an exceptional experience throughout their stay. Be present during service hours to ensure extraordinary guest service (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner). Assist with guest check-ins, room orientation, and handling of special requests. Liaise with tour groups and handle VIP guest requirements with discretion. Proactively handle guest complaints, ensuring effective resolution and follow-up. Promote and assist with in-house activities, excursions, and conservation programs. Encourage guest feedback through surveys and direct interactions. Financial & Human Resources Management Ensure accurate revenue collection, billing, and financial accountability. Control costs of sales, monitor variances, and investigate discrepancies. Conduct bi-monthly and monthly stock takes for F&B, equipment, and consumables. Train; coach, and mentor staff through continuous on-the-job training and formal development initiatives. Conduct weekly staff meetings, monthly appraisals, and performance management. Foster positive staff morale through leadership, fair conflict resolution, and team-building activities. Health; Safety & Compliance Ensure all areas meet health, safety, and hygiene regulations. Lead emergency responses, including fire safety, evacuations, and first aid. Maintain maximum security across all camp facilities. Drive environmental awareness and conservation-aligned practices in daily operations. Qualifications & Experience High school diploma required; a hospitality or business management qualification is advantageous. 23 years of camp, lodge, or hospitality management experience essential. Proven track record in guest services and hospitality operations. Previous experience in wildlife or conservation environments is highly desirable.
