About the Role

Our Client, a leading international professionally-managed industrial and services conglomerate, is seeking an experienced Co-generation Manager / Engineer to join their Sugar Factory in East Africa. With a 7,500 TCD sugar factory producing 180,000 tons of sugar, 50 MW electricity, and 65 KLPD distilleries, the company is certified for ISO 9001 / 14001 / 18001 and has ambitious plans to expand its sugar business in Africa. The Group seeks a senior professional with expertise in co-generation systems to lead their Co-Generation unit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the co-generation unit, including maintenance and budgeting.
  • Monitor production volumes and R&M expenses to ensure adherence to budgets.
  • Optimize power generation and export to the grid while ensuring sufficient LP steam is sent to the process house.
  • Operate and maintain 3 high-pressure boilers (2 x45kgcm-2, 1x67kgcm-2) and 2 TAs (1x30MW, 1x21MW).
  • Ensure grid synchronization.
  • Plan preventive and productive maintenance of boilers and turbines.
  • Manage spares inventory.
  • Continuously improve efficiency parameters.
  • Maintain high safety standards.
  • Train and develop staff, particularly national employees.
  • Monitor HP boiler water treatment.

Requirements

  • Mechanical Engineering Graduate with a minimum of 15 years experience in a similar industry.
  • At least 5 years of experience as head of the co-generation unit.
  • Strong understanding of co-generation systems and power plant operations.

Qualifications

  • Completed Mechanical Engineering Degree.
