About the Role
Safari JOBS is recruiting for an exceptional Deputy General Manager opportunity with a highly regarded luxury hospitality property in the North West area of South Africa. This role is ideal for a dynamic, commercially astute hospitality professional who combines strong operational leadership with a genuine passion for guest satisfaction, team performance, and business success.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage complex logistics during peak occupancy to ensure seamless guest flow and service delivery.
- Drive ongoing liaison between all departments to guarantee 5-star standards are met consistently.
- Audit and maintain premium hospitality standards across the entire property.
- Oversee the rhythm of the lodge, ensuring every guest touchpoint is executed with precision.
- Resolve complex operational hurdles with a calm, solution-oriented approach.
- Implement and monitor strategies to streamline hotel occupancy and maximize revenue growth.
- Take ownership of departmental budgets, focusing on cost-control and waste reduction.
- Track and interpret KPIs and financial trends to provide actionable business insights.
- Ensure full financial management and compliance with all internal and external audit requirements.
- Lead the team in delivering a world-class, personalized guest experience from arrival to departure.
- Monitor and analyze guest sentiment to drive continuous service improvements.
- Manage guest concerns with emotional intelligence, turning challenges into loyalty-building moments.
- Lead and inspire a diverse, high-volume staff complement to maintain peak performance.
- Identify training gaps and implement programs to build future leadership capacity.
- Create a collaborative work environment that encourages high morale and low turnover.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide coaching to uphold rigorous service standards.
- Oversee all lodge documentation, ensuring it is precise, current, and professional.
- Deliver comprehensive, data-driven reports to the General Manager and stakeholders.
- Maintain strict adherence to all health, safety, and industry-related legislative protocols.
Requirements
- Clear criminal record.
- Excellent employment track record with verifiable references.
- Tertiary qualification (Degree/Diploma) in Hospitality Management or related field.
- Previous experience as an Assistant/Deputy General Manager in a 5* Lodge/Hotel environment.
- Ability to oversee all departments within the lodge with excellent management ability and communication skills.
- Fully conversant with hospitality POS/PMS/Accounting systems.

Salary & Benefits
Basic monthly remuneration of approx. R45,000.00 (negotiable). Accommodation (partly/basically furnished) and own bathroom; 2 meals per day from the staff canteen; Provident fund – 100% coverage by the company; Medical Aid membership is a compulsory part of the package, offering employees the security of ongoing cover, with the full contribution payable by the employee; Uniform and laundry thereof; Complimentary staff shuttle service is provided for shift transport.
Work Cycle
21 days on, 7 days off. Must be flexible and open to possible change in line with operational requirements.
