A leading independent school is seeking to appoint a dynamic and experienced Executive Head to provide strategic, academic, and operational leadership. About the Role
The Executive Head will oversee all aspects of the schools academic performance, operational management, staff leadership, financial oversight, and stakeholder engagement. The successful candidate will ensure that the school maintains high educational standards, strong organisational systems, and a values-driven culture that supports learner success.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Academic Leadership
- Lead the development and implementation of the schools strategic plan.
- Ensure high standards of teaching, learning, and curriculum delivery (CAPS/IEB as applicable).
- Drive continuous improvement across academic and support functions.
Operational Management
- Oversee admissions, timetabling, infrastructure, IT systems, and daily school operations.
- Ensure compliance with education legislation, health & safety standards, and child protection policies.
- Work closely with Finance to manage budgets, controls, and long-term sustainability.
Staff Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and performancemanage academic and support staff.
- Foster a professional, collaborative, and highperformance culture.
- Implement continuous professional development initiatives.
Learner Welfare & Discipline
- Promote holistic learner development and wellbeing.
- Oversee an effective, valuesbased discipline system.
- Ensure implementation of safeguarding and inclusivity policies.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build positive relationships with parents, community stakeholders, and external partners.
- Ensure effective internal and external communication.
- Represent the school in relevant forums and networks.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor of Education degree (B.Ed) or equivalent (required).
- Postgraduate qualification in Educational Management/Leadership (advantageous).
- SACE registration.
- At least 10 years experience in education, including 5+ years in senior leadership (Principal/Deputy Principal/Executive Head).
- Proven experience in academic leadership, staff management, school operations, and strategic planning.
