About the Role
To deliver high-quality, engaging lessons in one or more modern foreign languages (e.g., French, Spanish, German, or Arabic) in line with the British National Curriculum. The teacher will foster a positive learning environment, support student academic and personal growth, and promote cultural awareness through effective language instruction. The role contributes to the school’s mission of developing globally minded learners with strong linguistic and intercultural competencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and differentiated lessons in one or more modern foreign languages
- Teach students across Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5 according to the British National Curriculum
- Assess, monitor, and report on student progress and development
- Create an inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning and student achievement
- Encourage student participation in language clubs, competitions, and cultural activities
- Support and contribute to the development of the MFL curriculum
- Maintain regular communication with parents and staff about student learning and wellbeing
- Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary projects and whole-school initiatives
- Participate in continuous professional development and school events
- Uphold the school’s values and contribute to a safe and respectful school culture
Requirements
- 2 years of teaching experience in a British Curriculum school (Key Stage 3)
- Proven track record of teaching French, Spanish, German, or Arabic as foreign languages
- International teaching experience (preferred but not essential)
- Fluency in at least one modern foreign language (e.g., French, Spanish, German, or Arabic)
- Strong subject knowledge aligned with UK curriculum standards
- Effective classroom and behaviour management
- Creative lesson planning and resource development
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Technological proficiency in teaching platforms (Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams)
- Cultural sensitivity and adaptability
- Organisational and time management abilities
- Commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field (completed via face-to-face learning online degrees not accepted)
- PGCE Certificate (Postgraduate Certificate in Education)
- QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) for UK applicants
- SACE Registration for South African applicants
