About the Role
Our client in the Insurance industry is seeking a skilled Heavy Commercial Vehicle Underwriter to join their team in Lynnwood, Pretoria, South Africa. The successful candidate will be responsible for underwriting HCV & GIT policies and ensuring that risks are written within the company’s risk appetite.
Key Responsibilities
- Underwriting of new and renewal business on HCV & GIT risks.
- Ensuring that risks are written within the company’s risk appetite and complies with reinsurance treaties and internal mandates.
- Monitoring and taking corrective action on badly performing risks.
- Maintaining an acceptable loss ratio.
- Maintaining policy wording drafts and ensuring that the product remains competitive with market offerings.
- Dealing with day-to-day queries and amendments to existing policies.
- Providing brokers with advice.
- Maintaining and building good customer relationships with brokers.
- Conducting product training to brokers.
- Providing comparisons between competitors’ products and the company’s products.
Requirements
- 5-7 years of commercial underwriting experience.
- Experience working with HCV & GIT-related products.
- A proven track record of underwriting experience, including assessing exposure and underwriting levels.
- Excellent communication skills.
- NQF Level 4: Short-Term Commercial Lines 60 Credits.
- Successfully completed the RE 5 Examination Level 1.
Qualifications
No formal education or certifications are required for this role. However, relevant qualifications may be considered an asset.
Salary & Benefits
The salary for this position is R25 000 per month.
