Job Description

A large Hotel Group is seeking a commercially-driven Key Account & Sales Manager to lead corporate and MICE revenue growth for the KZN Region. 1: Position Purpose: The successful candidate will be directly responsible for the acquisition and retention of high-value corporate, government, and MICE accounts. The objective is to secure consistent room nights and event revenue for a prominent hotel within the Umhlanga node. 2. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Revenue Targets: Achieve monthly and annual room night and banquet revenue targets as set by the National Group Sales Manager. New Business Acquisition: Convert a minimum defined number of new Corporate Standard Agreements (CSAs) per quarter. Sales Activity: Maintain a mandatory weekly quota of face-to-face client calls, site inspections, and cold calls. Account Penetration: Increase the “wallet share” of existing key accounts through cross-selling and up-selling services. Pipeline Management: Maintain an active, verifiable sales pipeline with a conversion rate meeting departmental benchmarks. Market Share (Fair Share): Outperform the local competitive set in the Umhlanga precinct as measured by STR or internal market share reports. 3. Key Responsibilities Business Development: Identify and contract new corporate entities, government departments, and Travel Management Companies (TMCs). Account Maintenance: Act as the primary point of contact for existing key accounts to ensure contract compliance and repeat bookings. Market Monitoring: Analyze competitor rates and local precinct developments to maintain a competitive market share. Site Inspections: Conduct professional property walkthroughs for procurement officers, event planners, and decision-makers. Performance Reporting: Deliver accurate data on sales activities, pipeline conversion, and market trends to the National Group Sales Manager. 4. Technical Requirements Experience: Minimum 5 years of hotel sales experience in a 4 or 5-star environment. Network: An active and verifiable database of corporate bookers and PCOs in the KZN and Gauteng regions. Systems: Proficiency in property management systems (e.g., Opera, Protel) and CRM software. Negotiation: Proven ability to negotiate and close long-term Corporate Standard Agreements (CSAs). 5. Mandatory Qualifications A relevant tertiary qualification in Hospitality, Sales, or Marketing. Valid South African Drivers License and a reliable personal vehicle. Availability for regional travel as required by the national sales strategy.
