About the Role
Join our team as a Junior Sous Chef at our intimate 5* safari lodge in the Greater Kruger Area, where you’ll have the opportunity to learn and grow in a fine dining environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Takes care of daily preparations (duties and food prep) as assigned by superiors, to the quality expected of a fine dining establishment
- Co-ordinates daily with management for scheduled tasks and outcomes
- Ensure that all food is being prepared to the highest standards
- Ensure efficient work with the focus on completing the task within the time available and to the standard set
- Assisting with Stock control and month end procedures – basic understanding of food cost
- Knowledge of hygiene and sanitation regulations that need to be followed
- Ensure equipment is used correctly and maintained properly
- Supervises Commis chefs and Scullers
- Encourages a positive atmosphere with great communication skills, with supervised staff and management
- Confident to create and implement new menu items – follow through in introduction, preparation and execution
Requirements
- 2-3 Years previous experience in a 4/5star environment as senior CDP/Sous (Essential)
- Food Hygiene or professional cooking qualifications (Essential)
- Passion for food and personal growth – up to date with culinary trends
- Great team player, flexible and hard working
- Strong personality that can think on their feet and ‘make a plan’ attitude
- Knowledgeable of all dietary and religious requirements
- Attention to detail, highly organized and can work under pressure
- Positive attitude with good leadership skills
- Self-motivated with great work ethic, leading by example

- Formal education/certifications (if applicable)
Salary & Benefits
- R12 000 – R14 000 CTC D.O.E
