About the Role
A luxury lodge just outside Gansbaai, Western Cape, is seeking a strong, talented Junior Sous Chef to join its hospitality team. This is an exciting opportunity for a culinary professional with supervisory experience in a 4/5-star lodge environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise kitchen staff and coordinate menu preparation
- Maintain high presentation standards and attention to detail
- Manage kitchen inventory, stock procedures, control, planning, budgeting, and departmental administration
- Implement effective cost management measures
- Train, mentor, and manage the kitchen team alongside the Sous and Head Chef
- Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years’ supervisory chef experience in a 4/5-star lodge environment
- Cooking and hygiene qualifications beneficial
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure
- Strong leadership skills
Qualifications
- Formal education/certifications (e.g. Bachelors or equivalent)
Salary & Benefits
R 17 000 – R 22 000pm DOE
