Job Summary

<p>Busy daytime <strong>Restaurant & Caf</strong> in <strong>Milpark, JHB</strong> is seeking a dynamic and experienced <strong>Line Chef / Chef de Partie</strong> to join their team. </p><p>Responsible for <strong>preparing </strong>and<strong> cooking</strong> food in the <strong>hot line</strong> specializing in <strong>excellent breakfast</strong> cookery and <strong>hot line meals</strong>, following <strong>recipes and plating</strong> dishes for service. You will also contribute to <strong>kitchen organization, cleanliness</strong> and maintaining <strong>food safety</strong> standards.</p><p><strong>Duties:</strong></p><p><strong>Food Preparation and Cooking:</strong> responsible for preparing food on their assigned station, including tasks like chopping vegetables, mixing sauces, and cooking entrees and side dishes.</p><p><strong>Following Recipes: </strong>adhere to established recipes and cooking techniques to ensure consistent quality and flavour.</p><p><strong>Plating Dishes: </strong>responsible for presenting dishes attractively and ensuring they are ready for service.</p><p><strong>Kitchen Organization and Cleanliness: </strong>maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring proper food handling and sanitation procedures are followed.</p><p><strong>Inventory and Stock Management: </strong>involved in managing inventory levels, stocking stations, and ensuring supplies are available for service.</p><p><strong>Teamwork and Communication: </strong>work collaboratively with other kitchen staff members, including sous chefs and other line cooks, to ensure efficient workflow and timely service.</p><p><strong>Requirements:</strong></p><p>Grade 12</p><p>Formal Culinary qualifications</p><p>At least 2 3 years experience in a busy caf / restaurant</p><p>Solid understanding of cooking techniques, food safety, and kitchen procedures.</p><p>Able to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.</p><p>Able to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and work under pressure.</p><p>Requires standing for extended periods and lifting heavy objects.</p><p>Knowledgeable about food safety regulations and procedures.</p>
