Job Description

Pastry Chef (Senior Level) – Large 5-star Luxury Safari Lodge – Kruger National Park Kendrick Recruitment is on the hunt for a skilled and passionate Pastry Chef for a large 5-star safari lodge and villa estate on the Sabie River, set within one of the most sought-after game viewing destinations in the Kruger National Park, Mpumalanga. This property forms part of a well-established hospitality group and maintains an exceptional standard of luxury dining across a variety of unique guest experiences. We are looking for someone who brings both technical precision and genuine creativity to the pastry kitchen. Minimum Requirements: Formal culinary/patisserie qualification from a recognised institution Minimum 3 years’ senior-level pastry experience within a 5* lodge environment Strong foundation across all pastry disciplines: plated desserts, bread, confectionery, petit fours and afternoon tea Ability to develop seasonal pastry menus aligned with the broader culinary direction Knowledge of dietary requirements and allergen management Attention to detail and a high standard of presentation Ability to work independently and as part of a larger kitchen brigade Stable work history with contactable references Key Responsibilities: Full ownership of the pastry section across all dining venues Development and execution of dessert menus, baked goods and pastry elements Contribution to special events, bush dining and bespoke guest experiences Maintaining quality, consistency and cost controls within the pastry kitchen Training and mentoring of any pastry assistants Package: Gross Salary: R32,000 per month Live-in: Single 1-bedroom accommodation provided (taxable benefit) Medical Aid: 50/50 employer/employee contribution Pension Fund: Included Please note: This is a single live-in position.
