Job Title: Senior Linux Server Engineer Location: Africa (Onsite & Remote) Experience: 35 Years Job Type: Full-Time Role Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Linux Server Engineer to manage, support, and optimize Linux-based server environments supporting web and database-driven applications. The ideal candidate will hold recognized certifications in Linux system administration, MySQL database administration, and PHP development, with strong hands-on experience in Apache web server administration. Key Responsibilities: Install, configure, administer, and maintain Linux server environments (Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu, or similar). Manage and optimize Apache web servers, including performance tuning and security hardening. Administer MySQL databases, including installation, configuration, backup, recovery, and performance optimization. Support and maintain PHP-based applications in collaboration with development teams. Implement system monitoring, patching, and backup strategies to ensure high availability and reliability. Troubleshoot complex system, application, and performance issues across Linux, web, and database layers. Implement security best practices, access controls, and compliance requirements. Maintain technical documentation and provide guidance to junior engineers. Required Qualifications & Certifications: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related discipline. 35 years of hands-on experience in Linux server administration. Recognized Linux system administration certification, such as: RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer) LPIC-2 CompTIA Linux+ Vendor certification in MySQL database administration (e.g., Oracle OCP MySQL). PHP development certification (e.g., Zend Certified PHP Engineer). Proven hands-on experience with Apache HTTP Server administration. Strong knowledge of shell scripting and automation.
