South Africa: Tax and Reporting Accountant

This internationally recognised organisation delivers complex infrastructure and engineering projects across multiple sectors. The Reporting & Tax Accountant will play a critical role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with tax regulations, and adherence to global financial governance standards. This role requires a detail-oriented finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, manages deadlines effectively, and can collaborate with both local and global finance teams. This role offers strong career progression opportunities , either within the finance function, or into other areas of the business, for high-performing individuals. Key Responsibilities: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in line with IFRS and global reporting frameworks. Manage tax compliance, including VAT, corporate tax submissions, and liaising with external tax advisors. Support budgeting, forecasting, and internal reporting cycles. Perform balance sheet reconciliations and ensure adherence to internal control frameworks. Partner with project, commercial, and operational teams to ensure accurate financial data. Assist with internal and external audits, ensuring the timely submission of audit requirements. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the finance function. Job Experience and Skills Required: Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance. Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)) is ideal. Around 3 years of experience in financial reporting, tax, or a similar accounting role. Experience in engineering, construction, infrastructure, consulting, or other project-based professional services environments is essential. Strong knowledge of IFRS and South African tax legislation. Understanding or exposure to tax regulations in other African countries would be an added advantage. Experience in or exposure to operations across the African continent will be an added advantage. Proficient in ERP systems and advanced Excel. Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and jurisdictions. High attention to detail, with the ability to work under pressure and manage competing deadlines.
