About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Waiter to join our team at HotelJobs in South Africa. As a Waiter, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional guest service and ensuring a consistently high-quality dining experience for our customers. You will work closely with our culinary team to prepare and serve food and beverages, maintain cleanliness and organization of the dining area, and provide excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and maintain designated areas according to set procedures, hygiene standards, and daily routines.
- Change table linen as required and ensure damaged or dirty linen is reported and exchanged.
- Clean and refill cruet sets and ensure adequate stock of condiments and sauces.
- Ensure table decor and flowers are fresh and meet presentation standards.
- Set tables according to prescribed standards, ensuring cleanliness and good condition of all items.
- Ensure side stations are fully stocked with cutlery, linen, and required equipment.
- Prepare and serve tea and coffee according to set standards.
- Take guest orders accurately and communicate them to the relevant departments.
- Maintain full knowledge of all menu items.
- Serve food and beverages professionally, courteously, and efficiently.
- Clear and clean tables promptly while ensuring guests do not feel rushed.
- Present bills accurately and process payments according to company procedures.
- Maintain excellent guest relations and assist guests where possible.
- Handle guest complaints professionally and report them to the Duty Manager.
- Report any suspicious items or activities to management immediately.
- Participate in fire and evacuation drills and be familiar with emergency procedures.
- Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and appearance.
- Attend required meetings and training sessions.
Requirements
- 13 years experience in a similar hospitality role
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Working knowledge of hospitality PMS systems (Opera or Symphony experience advantageous)
Qualifications
- Matric (minimum requirement)
- Relevant hospitality qualification advantageous
Salary & Benefits
Salary package includes a mandatory 5% contribution to the company provident fund. Medical Aid available as part of the CTC package.
