Job Description

Minimum requirements: Operate a designated section of the process plant safely, responsibly and according to the documented procedures and within control bounds at all times. Monitor process plant equipment to ensure it is operating at optimal levels, monitor process indicators, instruments, gauges, and meters to detect and report any possible problems. Monitor water levels and conveyor belts. Take corrective actions when process is not operating optimally. Work with maintenance staff to ensure the plant is safe and operating according to COPs and SOPs. Take responsibility for a designated section of the process plant for the duration of each rostered shift. Ensure systems, procedures and work instructions for the safe operation of the process plant. Prepare a log for the next shift at the end of every rostered shift. Complete log sheets as required. Do pre-shift checks as per the procedure and report defects. Report any safety, environmental and production incident to relevant person (e.g. Plant Foreman, Safety Representative, Safety Officer). Indirectly minimize costs through efficient operation of equipment, following guidelines and reporting discrepancies. Unblocking chutes and pipelines. Inspection and replacement of screen panels. Housekeeping and cleaning of work areas. Conduct DMS and Recovery tests and monitoring where applicable. Comply with safety, health, security and environmental standards.
