About the Role
The PRO Personnel Employment Agency is seeking an experienced Safety Supervisor/Officer to join our team in Steelpoort. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in safety, environmental, mining, or health disciplines and a proven track record of implementing effective safety systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Safety Manager in establishing and implementing project safety systems
- Develop and manage safety components of Project Management Plans
- Conduct and participate in risk assessments, HAZOPs, audits, and inspections
- Ensure contractors and project teams comply with site-specific SHE requirements
- Monitor, analyse, and report on incidents, accidents, LTIs, and SHE trends
- Lead incident investigations and ensure close-out of corrective actions
- Coordinate safety training, inductions, and awareness programmes
- Maintain compliance with legal, regulatory, and Client safety frameworks
- Integrate SHE reporting and systems with project and PMO processes
- Represent the operation on SHE forums and support audits and governance reviews
- Contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in Safety, Environmental, Mining or Health disciplines
- COMSOC I & II or equivalent
- SAMTRAC (National Safety Diploma advantageous)
- Minimum 5–10 years’ experience in a mining environment
- Strong knowledge of Mine Health & Safety Act and Occupational Health & Safety Act
- Proven experience in:
- Safety auditing and risk control management
- Risk assessment techniques (SWIFT, HAZOP, FMECA, AFRAD)
- Incident investigation methodologies (ICAM / RCAT / SCAT / AICAT)
Qualifications
- Valid Code B driver’s licence
- Valid Certificate of Fitness and completion of site-specific induction
