Employer: Embassy of JapanJob Title: The Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) ProgrammeClosing Date: Friday 18 October 2024 by 4 p.m. (must have arrived at the Embassy of Japan)Job Categories: Teaching English in JapanJob Description:The Government of Japan is inviting applications from South Africans who will have graduated from university by their arrival in Japan (April July, 2025) with a degree in any major, and who would like the opportunity to spend at least one year in Japan as Assistant English Language Teachers under a successful international exchange programme. (No knowledge of Japanese is required to apply). AIM: The Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme is designed to promote mutual understanding between Japan and South Africa and to intensify English language education in Japan. ROLE FUNCTION: Participants will be employed as Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs) in public elementary, junior high and high schools. ALTs support Japanese English teachers, assist with the preparation of supplementary teaching materials and promote cultural exchange. CONDITIONS: Contracts will be for one year (renewable up to 5 years). Salary, travel and visa expenses will be paid by the contracting organization in Japan.
