Job Summary
- Perform routine and preventative mechanical maintenance on production line equipment as per maintenance schedules.
- Respond urgently to breakdowns, including after-hours and public holidays, to minimize production downtime.
- Fault find and repair mechanical issues, including replacing worn parts and faulty components.
- Remove and replace electric motors and variable speed drives (VSDs) as needed during breakdowns.
- Complete all job cards and maintenance records with detail on work performed, cost, and parts used.
- Conduct root cause analysis and recommend solutions to recurring equipment issues.
- Ensure that temporary repairs are followed up with permanent solutions.
- Comply with safety standards and company policies.
Requirements:
- Qualified Fitter with Red Seal or equivalent trade certificate.
- Minimum of 3–5 years’ maintenance experience in a production or FMCG environment.
- Solid understanding of electric motors and variable speed drives (installation and replacement).
- Basic knowledge of industrial electrical systems.
- Experience within FMCG production environment, especially dairy, would be a huge advantage.
- Ability to work shifts, overtime, and be on standby for emergency call-outs.
- Physically fit and technically strong with good problem-solving ability.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Afrikaans.
- Must have own reliable transport.
