About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Practitioner to join our team at Communicate Finance in the Western Cape region. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading initiatives to strengthen organisational culture, inclusion, engagement, and employee experience, while also providing data-driven insights to leadership and ensuring alignment with South African labour legislation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead initiatives to strengthen organisational culture, inclusion, engagement, and employee experience
- Analyse HR metrics and provide data-driven insights to leadership
- Identify and address trends impacting morale, productivity, absenteeism, and retention
- Develop, review, and implement HR policies and procedures
- Ensure alignment with South African labour legislation and statutory requirements
- Manage and improve the annual performance review process
- Coach managers on performance and behavioural issues
- Manage internal disciplinary and grievance processes
- Handle external labour matters, including CCMA and Labour Court cases
- Support employees with personal and professional challenges
- Manage relationships with EAP and wellness service providers
- Collaborate on wellness initiatives that promote employee health and well-being
- Oversee payroll and benefits administration (supported by finance)
- Manage annual salary and bonus review processes
- Coordinate benefit renewals and service providers
- Administer workmens compensation claims
- Support career pathing, development planning, and succession planning
- Design and manage training, mentoring, and leadership development initiatives
- Develop and implement talent retention strategies
- Manage end-to-end recruitment and selection processes
- Ensure effective onboarding and integration of new employees
- Manage Employment Equity data, forums, and annual reporting
- Prepare and submit Workplace Skills Plans (WSPs) and Annual Training Reports (ATRs)
- Support BBBEE requirements through effective skills development planning
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years experience as an HR generalist, with at least 2 years at management level
- Strong working knowledge of South African labour law and HR best practice
- Proven experience in HR systems, policy development, performance management, and training
- Experience within the education or NPO sector would be advantageous
Qualifications
Postgraduate qualification in Human Resources, Organisational Psychology, or similar (NQF equivalent)
