About the Role
As a Production Technician at Communicate Finance in the Western Cape, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our manufacturing equipment and processes. You will work closely with our team to optimize machine utilization, minimize downtime, and achieve exceptional overall equipment effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for quick, correct line set-ups and changeovers
- Perform tool changes and set-ups on all manufacturing equipment and ensure procedures are correctly followed by all extrusion staff
- Optimize machine utilisation and manufacturing processes to achieve the best possible performance, availability, and scrap percentages (Overall Equipment Effectiveness)
- Ensure optimum setup of feeders, drillers, and coilers, and train supervisors on fine adjustments
- Input order and parameter specifications on the Manufacturing Execution System in the factory
- Assist with planning and scheduling of production orders
- Support breakdowns and technical repairs of lines, ensuring equipment is in good working order
- Assist with maintenance, lean projects, and installations
- Manage line wear parts stock, including rollers, tools, rings, and other consumables
Requirements
- Practical, hands-on ability
- Ability to work independently and apply logic to fault finding and problem solving
- Provide after-hour support and standby for production or technical problems when required
- Energetic and dynamic with an excellent understanding of fast-moving production processes
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Good numeracy skills and computer literacy
- Approximately five years’ experience managing production processes in a fast-moving production environment
- Valid driver’s licence and reliable transport
Qualifications
- N4 Electrical or Electronic Artisan or Millwright
- Red Seal Certificate
