About the Role
A leading mining company is seeking an experienced Internal Audit Manager to join their team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in driving strong governance, risk management, and compliance across the organization. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a high-performing internal audit function in a dynamic and challenging mining environment, contributing to the company’s operational excellence and long-term success.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the internal audit strategy and methodology in alignment with business objectives
- Lead the internal audit planning process, including flexible risk-based annual and 4-year rolling plans
- Manage the internal audit team, including performance management, training, and capability development
- Conduct or oversee ad-hoc or special investigations and ensure timely reporting to management and boards
- Ensure compliance with auditing standards, legislation, and internal audit frameworks
- Promote the use of technology and data analytics to enhance audit effectiveness
- Lead IT and cyber security audits, providing guidance and skills development to the audit team
- Build strong relationships with business stakeholders and provide actionable recommendations
- Ensure audit deliverables meet deadlines and maintain high-quality reporting
- Stay abreast of industry developments and implement improvements in audit methodologies
Requirements
- NQF 7 (Relevant degree or advanced diploma) in Auditing, Accounting, or Computer Science
- CIA, CISA, or CA(SA) certification (CISA preferred)
- Minimum 10 years relevant auditing experience, with at least 5 years in a management role
- Experience in internal audit within a large industrial, mining, or manufacturing environment
- Valid drivers license (if applicable)
- Clear credit and security screening records
- Medically fit to work in the business environment
- Proficiency in MS Office and audit software (e.g., TeamMate)
- Advanced knowledge of IT auditing techniques, including cyber security
- Strong understanding of data analytics, governance frameworks, and risk management
- Knowledge of Commercial Law, Income Tax, VAT, and labor legislation
- Familiarity with forensic auditing practices
- Knowledge of IIA Professional Practices Framework, IIA Code of Ethics, SOX legislation, COSO frameworks, and King Code
