Job Summary

UFS is seeking an experienced Store General Manager with a demonstrated history of working in the retail industry to oversee their current store in Hulhumale as well as look into the possibility of expanding their retail footprint further. This role is based in the Maldives.

The primary purpose of the Store General Manager is to lead our store operations effectively. This individual will be responsible for managing daily store activities, enhancing customer satisfaction, driving sales, and ensuring profitability.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Management: Manage the retail store, which includes overseeing sales, staff and inventory and the day-to-day operations of a store. Evaluate and improve operations and financial performance. Handle and resolve any issues arising from staff or customers, including complaints and grievances, to maintain a positive store environment.
  • Oversee day-to-day store operations: Set policies and processes. Daily store routines including replenishment, housekeeping, merchandising and problem solving.
  • Driving Sales:Setting and meeting sales targets, and motivating staff to do so
  • Ensuring Customer Satisfaction:Establish and maintain rapport with current and potential customers to identify service requirements. Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through excellent service delivery. Responding to customer complaints and concerns, and ensuring customer service needs are met
  • Staff: Recruiting, training, supervising, and appraising employees. Planning staffing to maximise team effectiveness and store productivity. Deploy an organizational structure to maximize sales. Ensure Employees work productively and develop professionally.
  • Inventory and Merchandising: Keeping track of inventory levels, making sure products are stocked, and planning purchases to ensure the availability of merchandise. Ensure all products are effectively displayed to maximize sales and profitability.
  • Store planning and design: Ensure best practices in store layout, department tools, systems, visual merchandising, and customer flow.
  • Marketing: Collaborate with the marketing team to create and utilize resources across various channels for promotion, such as social media, public relations, mobile, direct, advertising, and other
  • Setting Strategy:Formulate an overall strategy and set goals for growth., manage people and establish policies. Analyse financials and create business strategies to attract new customers.
  • Financial Oversight: Create and Maintain budgets and optimise expenses.: Prepare the annual budget, schedule expenditures, analyse variances, initiate corrective actions to achieve financial objectives. Ensure effective pricing policies are in place to drive sales and profitability.
  • Store Cleanliness:Ensure the store is clean, ensure attractive and functional retail areas.
  • Compliance:Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation. Ensure the store meets the expected operational and visual merchandising standards. Complete store administration and ensure compliance with policies and procedures. Obtain all necessary licenses and permits.
  • Organisational Communication:Liaise with head office: Propose innovative ideas to increase store traffic and market share. Regularly report on buying trends, customer needs, and financial performance to top management. Prepare reports for upper management. Using reports and data to identify and act upon store and area-wide commercial opportunities.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 7-10 years experience as a GM in a retail store selling fresh and frozen groceries. The successful candidate will have a robust background in retail management and a proven track record of meeting high performance standards.
  • At least 5 years of successful experience in grocery store management. The Store General Manager is a strong retail operations professional with team leadership skills; skilled in customer service, retail, sales, management, inventory management.
  • Experience in working and living outside of ones home country. Experienced in working with diversity and cultures. An understanding of the Islamic culture would be preferred.
  • Advanced sales and customer service skills. Able to handle productive conflict and make hard and tough decisions where necessary.
  • Valid driver`s license and valid passport. No criminal record.
  • To obtain a work permit in another country, the relevant immigration department will require the candidate to produce and submit an original school leavers/matric certificate, as well as the original degree awarded including the transcript of results, notarized.
