Job Summary
- LLB Degree or equivalent; Admission as an attorney/advocate.
- Ideally of 8 – 10 years of legal experience, preferably with experience in international trade, agriculture, or FMCG industries.
- Experience with intellectual property, licensing and trade in foreign market regulations.
- Experience in South African corporate and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities, but not limited to:
- Draft, review, and negotiate licenses for nurseries, commercial growers, and trial growers.
- Negotiate and finalise commercial contracts with global suppliers and customers.
- Assess supplier and customer contracts, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Provide guidance on key contractual obligations and risk management strategies.
- Research and interpret relevant laws in new operating regions.
- Develop and roll out grower licences in new jurisdictions.
- Manage execution of licences and contracts to facilitate supply chain operations.
- Advise on legal considerations for establishing and maintaining fresh produce supply chains.
- Identify and interpret laws regulating fresh produce supply in South Africa, North Africa, and Europe.
- Ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements across multiple regions.
- Provide proactive legal guidance to mitigate compliance risks.
- Support global litigation cases by reviewing pleadings, preparing discovery, and conducting legal research.
- Assist with day-to-day legal challenges in North Africa and Europe, such as customs clearance issues.
- Advise on corporate law matters and corporate structures in South Africa.
- Liaise with external legal counsel as needed.
