We are seeking a reliable, customer-focused Retail Assistant / Cashier to join our busy convenience store in Brooklyn, Pretoria. This dual-role position combines cashiering duties with stock control responsibilities, ensuring smooth store operations and excellent customer service.Key Responsibilities:Cashiering Duties: Welcome and assist customers with professionalism and friendliness. Process sales transactions quickly and accurately using the POS system. Handle cash, card payments, and issue receipts. Balance the till at the end of each shift and report any discrepancies. Resolve basic customer queries, returns, and complaints. Keep the checkout area clean, tidy, and presentable.Stock Control Duties: Receive and check deliveries for accuracy and quality. Accurately update and record inventory levels. Organize and store stock to avoid damage or spoilage. Monitor fast-moving items and alert management of low stock. Conduct regular stock counts and reconcile with system records. Maintain stock rotation procedures to minimize waste.Requirements: Previous experience in retail, hospitality, or stock control (advantageous). Basic math and computer literacy skills. Familiarity with POS systems and inventory software (training provided). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
