Johannesburg: Packet Core Operations Engineer

Essential Skills & Experience Bachelors degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, or related field 35 years of hands-on experience in packet core operations within telecom environments Strong understanding of 3GPP standards and mobile core protocols (GTP, Diameter, SCTP, IPsec) Proficiency in network monitoring tools (e.g., Wireshark, NetAct, U2000, SolarWinds) Experience with virtualization platforms (NFV, VMware, OpenStack) and containerized environments Familiarity with incident management frameworks (e.g., ITIL, ServiceNow) Solid troubleshooting skills and ability to work under pressure Effective communication and documentation abilities Preferred Qualifications Vendor certifications (e.g., Nokia, Ericsson, Huawei, Cisco) in packet core technologies Exposure to 5G SA/NSA operations and cloud-native core components Experience with automation and scripting (Python, Shell, Ansible) Knowledge of lawful interception and regulatory compliance processes
