Purpose of the Role:
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join their Finance division. This role is responsible for maintaining the integrity of financial information in compliance with IFRS, PFMA, and internal policies and procedures. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring sound financial control, discipline, and effective asset management.

Key Performance Areas:

• Perform accurate monthly reconciliations including preparation, issue resolution, and escalation of red-flag items.
• Compile year-end reconciliations and disclosures to support annual financial statements.
• Manage and maintain the fixed asset register for all movable assets.
• Process invoicing, month-end, and year-end journals.
• Serve as back-up support to the Bookkeeper/Accountant as needed.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and support year-end financial processes.
• Assist in the resolution of audit findings (both internal and external).
• Actively participate in broader organizational initiatives and reporting.

Minimum Requirements:

• BCom or BTech in Accounting or Financial Accounting.
• 5+ years of work experience with 3+ years specifically in accounting and asset management.
• Strong understanding of IFRS, PFMA, and asset management frameworks.
• Proficiency in financial systems such as Sage300 and Oracle.
