Job Description

Our client in the FMCG Industry is seeking a skilled individual to join their team in Montague Gardens, Cape Town as their National Workshop & Spares Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • Relevant post-matric technical qualification (preferably N4 or higher in Millwright, Engineering, or Automotive) – Minimum 5 years’ experience
  • Previous technical experience as a technician
  • Strong technical understanding of mechanical and electrical systems
  • Proven experience in stock control, administration, and workshop operations
  • Computer literate with solid systems aptitude
  • Strong financial acumen, including budgeting and cost management

  • Strong technical expertise, including mechanical and electrical knowledge, supported by solid computer literacy and system proficiency.
  • Operational accuracy, demonstrated through effective stock management, administrative precision, and adherence to processes.
  • Financial acumen, with the ability to understand budgets, manage costs, and support efficient financial controls.
  • High-performance behaviours, including achievement focus, attention to detail, problem-solving ability and strong planning and organising skills.
  • Professional and interpersonal excellence, reflected in service orientation, emotional intelligence, strategic thinking, integrity, accountability, flexibility, resilience, and innovative thinking.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and support all workshop and spares teams nationally, ensuring clear role alignment performance management, training, timekeeping, and discipline.
  • Oversee technician performance, ensure adherence to procedures, monitor job cards and hours, manage service kits and spares usage, approve travel, and ensure vehicle maintenance.
  • Maintain high service standards, address client complaints promptly, conduct spot checks, and engage key customers nationally to resolve issues and drive proactive maintenance improvements.
  • Ensure accurate and available stock, oversee documentation and picking processes, manage stock takes, control excess/ageing stock, and process returns according to SOPs.
  • Ensure timely job card processing, credit approvals, accurate inter-site transfers, daily tracking reports, courier reconciliations, proper binning, accurate reporting, and clearance of all system exceptions.
  • Support cost-saving initiatives, maintain monthly budgets, meet annual financial targets, and ensure operational accuracy across all financial documentation.
