Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of dishes, ensuring high standards of taste, presentation, and quality.
Section Support
- Support the Chef de Partie in managing a specific section of the kitchen, such as the grill, sauce, fish, or pastry.
Consistency and Quality
- Ensure consistency and quality in all dishes prepared, adhering to hotel recipes and standards.
Training and Supervision
- Help train and supervise Commis Chefs and kitchen assistants, providing guidance and ensuring best practices.
Inventory Control
- Assist in monitoring stock levels, ordering supplies, and managing inventory for your section to ensure freshness and minimize waste.
Health and Safety
- Maintain strict hygiene and health and safety standards in the kitchen, ensuring compliance with local regulations.
Menu Development
- Contribute ideas for new dishes and improvements to existing recipes, staying abreast of culinary trends and techniques.
Team Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient kitchen operations and a positive working environment.
Problem-Solving
- Address and resolve any issues that arise in your section, ensuring a smooth and efficient service.
Qualifications & Education Requirements
- Culinary diploma or equivalent training is advantageous.
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years in a similar role within a hotel or reputable restaurant.
Preferred Skills
- Strong culinary skills and expertise in a specific kitchen section.
- Ability to manage and mentor junior staff.
- Knowledge of kitchen operations, inventory management, and food safety.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards.
